Students

I am a student working on a project about Kids Help Phone. Can you help me?

Because our counsellors are very busy counselling young people across the country, we ask students not to call our counselling line about school assignments.

We recognize that not all of your questions may be answered on our website. Unfortunately, due to a high volume of student requests, we aren’t able to individually assist with school assignments.

What is the history of Kids Help Phone?

Check out our History page for an overview.

How can I interview a counsellor for a school project?

Due to a high volume of interview requests, we are not able to schedule student interviews with our counsellors at this time.

Because our counsellors are very busy offering support to young people across the country, including young people in crisis, we ask students not to call our counselling line with interview requests.

How can I interview a Kids Help Phone expert in fundraising, marketing, public relations, or research?

Kids Help Phone’s non-counselling staff members make themselves available for student assignments on an individual basis. Please remember that, just as students have due dates, we also work under many deadlines, and are busy working on a variety of projects. As a result, we may not always be able to grant interviews, but we will try when we can.

Please contact us by filling out our contact form. Be sure to include the name of your school and a brief description about your project or request, and we will forward it to the appropriate person. We will try to get back to you within two weeks.

Do you have guest speakers who can come to my class?

We do not provide guest speakers for classrooms. Because our counsellors are busy on the phones and online supporting young people across Canada, they aren’t able to visit individual schools for speaking engagements.

To ensure our phone lines remain open to young people who need immediate help, we ask students not to call our counselling line with requests for guest speakers.

Can you help with statistics for my school assignment?

We are able to make the following statistics available:
(last updated October, 2014)

For statistics about child abuse, poverty, and more, Statistics Canada may be a helpful resource for your assignment. For more statistics about mental health in Canada, the Canadian Mental Health Association and Children’s Mental Health Ontario may also be helpful resources.
