Kids Help Phone, WestJet and Empire Theatres kick off the 2009 Walk for Kids Help Phone

CALGARY (March 24, 2009): Kids Help Phone announced today that it will kick off the 2009 Walk for Kids Help Phone at a movie event on March 28, 2009 in conjunction with Empire Theatres and WestJet. The charity operates Canada’s only 24-hour, toll-free, confidential and anonymous phone and online counselling, referral and information service for young people.

“We’re excited to be kicking off the 2009 Walk for Kids Help Phone by inviting everyone to join us for a great movie on March 28, and to register to walk in their community,” said Mary Proulx, Vice President, Fund Development and Regional Activities, Kids Help Phone. “The Walk for Kids Help Phone is our largest fundraising event of the year, and this year we’ll be walking in more than 55 communities across Canada.”

The movie Yes Man starring Jim Carrey (rated PG-13) will show for a suggested donation of $3 at 18 Empire Theatres locations at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2009. All proceeds raised will benefit the Walk for Kids Help Phone. Participating locations include:
